Saleduck moves its head office to Kuala Lumpur

Dutch-based e-commerce company Saleduck, which has been operating in Malaysia over the past four years, has picked Kuala Lumpur as its base of operations and is in the midst of shifting its headquarters to the Southeast Asian city from Amsterdam, Netherlands. 

“The Asian e-commerce market is the largest in the world in size and has now passed one trillion euros, recording growth of more than 20% in 2019. Our turnover share from Asia has also continued to increase over the past three years, so the decision was quickly made, ” says Saleduck CEO Domingo Karsten.

Some of the Amsterdam-based employees have begun the transition to the Kuala Lumpur office.

Meanwhile, the company has also assisted employees that opted out of the move to the new office by assisting them in finding new jobs in Amsterdam.

The company is shifting its operations as it moves towards aligning the company' plans, while also improving the synergy and knowledge sharing in the team. Saleduck is also a good learning ground for those wanting to get into online marketing.

A total of 30 people will be employed in the new office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, comprising both local and international talents from 12 different countries. 

In six months' time, the role of CEO will be passed from Domingo Karsten to Sjoerd Copier who has been running the Asian office in Kuala Lumpur as managing director for the past three years. 

The Silicon Valley of SouthEast Asia 

Saleduck was welcomed warmly since it started out in the country four years ago, given Malaysia's solid startup ecosystem.

“The climate for startups is surprisingly good in Malaysia. We can easily do business here, especially as the local government has rewarded our innovative and ambitious plans with the coveted MSC and Pioneer status, " said Copier.

Last year, the company secured several awards at AT Awards 2019, named as the top publisher in Indonesia and Thailand, as well as top publisher in the travel category.

In 2016 & 2017, Saleduck was named in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 list, ranked as 14th and 34th fastest growing technology company in the Netherlands.
